What you can take out of Atwork, and in which format, depends on where the data lives:
| What | How | Format |
|---|---|---|
| A table view | Toolbar Settings → Export | Excel (.xlsx) |
| A dashboard widget | Widget menu → Export as CSV or Export as PNG | CSV, PNG |
| A document field | Open the document → Download As HTML | HTML |
| An invoice | Settings → Invoices → open the invoice → Download PDF | Print, or save as PDF |
Open the table view you want, click the Settings icon in its toolbar, and choose Export under Actions. Atwork downloads an .xlsx file named after the view, with your records on one worksheet.
The rows follow the view's filters; the columns do not follow the view.
Exported field types: text, number, date, duration, checkbox, email, phone, URL, status, select, multi-select, employee, team, job, location, relation, mirror, rollup, formula, and the created/modified date and person.
Not exported: files and attachments, document fields, Employee List and Team List fields, Rate, Vote, Timer and Button fields, and Link fields. Add those by hand if the recipient needs them.
Any dashboard widget exports its numbers as a CSV file, and chart widgets also export as a PNG image. Both options are in the widget's menu:
Both files are named after the widget.
A document field — the rich-text notes on a record — opens in its own window when you click it. The Download As HTML icon in that window's header saves the document as a single HTML file, with its formatting, that any browser can open or print.
Only invoices have a print option. There is no Print button on sheets, views or dashboards, so to print that data, export it first and print the file:
An exported file has no permissions: whoever holds it can read every column in it. Because hidden fields are exported too, check the file, not the view. Internal notes, costs and margins you hid from the view will still be in the spreadsheet — delete those columns in Excel before you send it.
For an ongoing arrangement, a client portal is usually better than a repeated export: the client sees current data, scoped to them, and nothing leaves your control. See What is the client portal?
