Connect Slack or Telegram

Updated Oct 20, 2026

Most teams already live in a chat tool. Connecting one means Atwork can tell people what changed where they are already looking.

Connect

  1. Click your avatar, then Integrations.
  2. On the Slack or Telegram card, click Connect and open the Credentials tab.
  3. For Slack, connect your Slack account and approve the access.
  4. For Telegram, create a bot with @BotFather in Telegram (/newbot), paste its token into Bot Token and click Save.

When you paste a bot token, workspace owners also choose Who can use this connection: Just me or Everyone in the organization.

What to do with it

The connection is not useful on its own — it becomes useful in an automation:

  • A form submission posts into the channel that handles intake.
  • A project moving to Blocked posts where the team will see it.
  • A daily summary of what is due.

Build these under Automations: pick the trigger, then choose the chat action. See Automate the repetitive parts.

Can I get my own notifications in Telegram?

Yes. Besides automations, you can send your own Atwork notifications to a private chat with your bot, chosen category by category in Notifications. It needs a connection set to Just me, the default. Your profile and notifications has the steps.

The other direction

An incoming message can also become a record, which is a simple way to capture requests without asking anyone to change how they work.

Keep it useful

A channel that posts every change gets muted within a week, and then it is worse than nothing. Post only what someone must act on — blocked work, new requests, missed deadlines — and leave the rest to be read in Atwork.

Notes

  • An amber dot means the token expired or was revoked: Manage → reconnect. Automations that post to chat fail quietly until you do.
  • Anyone who can see the channel sees what is posted, so do not push confidential fields into a wide channel.
