A Vista page is a page that Dana, Atwork's AI assistant, builds from a description: a dashboard, an intake form, a client status page, a searchable directory. It reads your live data, so it stays current without anyone maintaining it, and it can add and update records as well as show them.
Vista view or Vista page?
- A Vista view sits on one sheet and uses that sheet's data. Use it for a page about one list, such as a dashboard of client projects or a form for new requests.
- A Vista page sits in a space and can use several of its sheets and pages at once. Use it when the page joins things up, such as hours from a timesheet next to tasks from the delivery sheet.
Add a Vista view to a sheet
- Open the sheet and click + in the view switcher at the top.
- Under Specialized, pick Vista.
- Name the view and click Create.
Add a Vista page to a space
- In the sidebar, click Create.
- Under Pages, pick New Vista page.
- Name the page and create it.
A new Vista page can use every sheet and page in its space. To narrow that, open the page's Settings tab and choose the sheets and pages under Data sources. The page can only read and change what is listed there.
Describe the page
The Vista tab holds your chat with Dana. Pick a suggestion (Dashboard with chart & recent items, Form for adding items or Searchable card directory) or type into Tell Dana what to build or change…. Name the fields and numbers you want, and the order they go in:
- "A status page for the Meridian Health retainer: hours used against budget, open tasks by status, and everything waiting on the client."
- "A form for new client requests that fills Client, Request type and Due date, with this week's requests listed below it."
- "Open tasks per person across all client projects, as a bar chart."
Dana reads the fields and options of your sheets first, then writes the page. The page reloads as Dana works, so you watch the first version take shape.
Change it in the chat
Say what should be different: "move the approval list above the chart", "show hours as a weekly trend", "use our brand orange". Dana edits the existing page rather than starting over, so your earlier decisions stay.
Every change is saved as a revision. Open the History tab to see them, numbered, each with Dana's summary. The revision the page shows now is marked Current. Click Revert on any other revision to go back to it. Reverting keeps the later revisions in the list, so you can move forward again.
Pick a theme
In Settings, pick a theme: Atwork Light, Atwork Dark, Clean, Midnight, Ocean, Forest, Sunset or Mono. Under Fine-tune, set the Font, Corner radius, Primary color, Border color, Background, Surface and Text color. You can also ask Dana for colors and fonts in the chat.
What can a Vista page do?
- Show records from its data sources, with filters, counts, totals and averages.
- Draw charts of them.
- Add, update and remove records, so a page can work as a form or a small tool.
- Take file uploads.
- Show your pages, on a Vista page in a space: a client brief next to the work it produced.
It reads the data live, so it shows your records as they are now, not a copy.
Share a Vista page as an app
- Open the page and click Publish in its header. The Publish Vista page dialog opens.
- Set the Name and the Link. The link goes live when you publish.
- Set App is to the role your audience gets. Viewer is the default. The app gets this role on the page and on every sheet and page in its data sources, so keep the data sources to what the audience may see.
- Under Internal access, choose your organization, Teams or Users.
- Set Guest access to Yes for people outside your workspace, and Customer access to All or Segments for portal customers. Both are No until you change them.
- Click Publish. Later, Save changes updates it and Unpublish takes it offline.
People who open the app see the page only, without the chat, settings or history.
A Vista view is published like any other view. See Share a view.
What can't a Vista page do?
- A Vista page is one page, not a multi-page app.
- It only uses the data in its data sources, and every read and write goes through your workspace's permissions.
- It runs in a locked-down frame and cannot load data from other websites.
- You change it by asking Dana. There is no drag-and-drop editor.
Does it use the AI budget?
Building and changing a page does: every message to Dana draws on your workspace's monthly AI budget. Opening and using the finished page does not. Vista has no plan limit. See The AI budget.
